MAGIC Continues its Commitment To Helping New Designers Launch Sustainable Businesses in the Fashion Industry

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (February 1, 2012)– MAGIC, in partnership with Fashion Business, Inc., has initiated a new area that will foster up-and-coming design talent and assist them in launching sustainable businesses in the fashion industry. Located within WWDMAGIC and appropriately named Launch Pad, the area’s objective underscores MAGIC’s continued commitment to serve as an incubator of fashion by connecting and inspiring the fashion community.

“MAGIC’s goal with its new showcase to propel the next generation of amazing designers into complete success and full operation by giving them exposure to buyers,” said Chris DeMoulin, MAGIC International President and Executive Vice President of Advanstar’s Fashion Group. “Since FBI works closely with design entrepreneurs year round, we felt they were the perfect partner to identify talent and help them start and grow sustainable fashion businesses.”  

Launch Pad at WWDMAGIC will give emerging ready-to-wear apparel and accessory designers the opportunity to showcase their lines in a gallery-like exhibit within a special WWDMAGIC Launch Pad lounge, located at the LVCC Campus/ North Hall.  Featured brands includeSonas Denim, G.I.A. Luxe, UnSpoken Lingerie, Zone 6, Me2Roo, KUERO, JOLYNN by Joanne Hong, Danilo Gabrielli, astridland, BESNE, Blanc Blouse, Flow by Tara Davis, Carrie Parry, Deborah Moser, and Lizzie Parker.

Media Criteria

This application to attend MAGIC MARKET WEEK is intended for editorial media only. Ad sales, marketing, public relations, publishing and promotions personnel must use Non-Retail Registration. Employees of media outlets who do not work in an editorial capacity do not qualified for a press credential. Press credentials are reserved for working members of the fashion media who meet the MAGIC criteria.

Editors of in-house newsletters or personal web logs (blogs) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

Press credentials will not be granted to:

  • Publishers/associate publishers and any advertising personnel, including directors, managers and account executives. 
  • Media outlets and editorial personnel whose publication, website or journal does not cover or reflect the fashion market.
  • Anyone whose principal purpose for attending MAGIC is, in our judgment, for reasons other than generating news coverage of the event or its participants.
