MAGIC DELIVERS A MULTI-PLATFORM DIGITAL EXPERIENCE THROUGH MOBILE APP, ON-SITE BLOGGERS, SOCIAL MEDIA SEMINARS AND MORE

Los Angeles, CA (February 10, 2012) – Today, MAGIC announces the launch of a new multi-platform digital experience providing relevant digital products and information including workshops, panels, and mobile applications. These include seminars on today’s social media landscape, multiple blogger lounges and the “Buzz Boutique.” These interactive experiences will offer attendees insight regarding key tools needed to market fashion businesses online and how to navigate the complex social media environment.  MAGIC has also launched a MAGIC mobile app, which will allow attendees to interact more easily and effectively with one another and navigate the show floor.

“Because of the speed with which everything digital is revolutionizing our industry, we saw a great opportunity for MAGIC to curate a showcase of the key digital platforms that are a vital part of any fashion business – we have done that in the Buzz Boutique on the Concourse at WWDMAGIC, and with our digital seminar series,” said Steven Sturm, EVP, Chief Marketing Officer, Advanstar.

The Buzz Boutique is a gathering place for attendees to learn about the most vital tools for digital fashion marketing, from mobile applications to social media to digital advertising.  Participating companies including Google, eBay Fashion, Storesigns.com, Handshake, Volusion Ecommerce and Social Radius – each has applications and tools relevant to the business of fashion and will demo their products as well as present a workshop:

  • Storesigns.com: Retail marketing comes to life through an exploration of ideas, technologies, and tools. Workshop times: Feb 13 at 2pm, Feb 14 and Feb 15 at 12pm
  • Volusion: Acquire tips for navigating the social commerce wave, and the ideal tools to help you along the way. Workshop times: Feb 13 at 11am, Feb 14 and Feb 15 at 2pm
  • Social Radius: Getting the most out of your blogger outreach campaigns and the five pillars of social media marketing. Feb 13 at 1pm and Feb 14 at 3pm

 

Blogger Lounges:  Teen Vogue, FN PLATFORM, S.L.A.T.E

WWDMAGIC has partnered with Teen Vogue, a leading media authority in teen fashion, to create a vibrant hub that will be teeming with bloggers and activity, and serve as the focal point of the Concourse. Fashion bloggers will report from the show floor on trends, new brands, events at MAGIC and much more.  Bloggers will include: Rachel Schwartzmann / Styleline.com, Samantha Lim / Fashionindie.com, Wendy Nuygen / Wendyslookbook.com,MarieDeene / The Curvy Fashionista, Olivia Lopez / Lustteforlife.com, Franke Melendez / hintmag.com, Rebecca Lay / Styleluste, Renee Ogaki / Styleluste, Wendy Bendoni /  wendybendoni.com/trendforecaster, Danielle Gray / fashionbombdaily.com, and Katie Rosen / fabfitfun.com.  These bloggers will also report from FN PLATFORM’s FOOTWEAR NEWS boothon today’s hottest footwear trends.

Additionally, the DIY Lounge will be based on the WWDMAGIC Concourse and will host bloggers such as Alicia Drago / dismountcreative.com, Kristen Turner/ Glitter n Glue and Jenni Radosevich / ispydiy.com.  Unique DIY products will be created onsite by attendees including a leather wallet, bracelets and earrings.

Over at S.L.A.T.E, MAGIC will feature a new blogger lounge curated by lifestyle and fashion journalist Marcus Troy. The hottest streetwear bloggers from around the world will post live from the show floor.  The blogger lounge will feature experts who will speak to streetwear products and trends.  A host of editors from Highsnobiety.com, Nicekicks.com, Freshnessmag.com, ctothejl.com, KarmaloopTV.com and other sites hand selected by Marcus Troy will be on hand to meet with show attendees.

 

Blogger Seminars

As part of the Teen Vogue Blogger Lounge, MAGIC guest bloggers and Teen Vogue Events Director, Lauren Eisner– will reveal how to influence the influencer and work with in the new and ever changing world or online news and editorial.

  • The Profound Presence of Social Media
    A discussion on how to take advantage of the power of social media sites to build your brand and diversify your blog. Hear how technology is changing the media landscape and which sites are most beneficial to promote your blog and reach your audience on numerous platforms.
  • The Art of the Start / Blogging
    How to begin a blog that will be effective.  Current bloggers will offer tips on what steps are needed to begin a blog, some difficulties you might face, how to establish your own voice / niche and offer up fundamental tips for aspiring fashion bloggers.
  • Fashion & Accessories Panel
    Review current trends seen on the runway, various ways to dress for these trends, what retailers are great “go-tos” to find key pieces, and how to recreate the looks seen on the runway.

 

MAGIC Mobile Application

MAGIC’s new Mobile App allows users to explore the exhibitor directory, seminars and events, create a personal calendar, map their show, access MAGIC social media platforms, receive alerts from the organizers, participate in photo sharing feeds and join and communicate with the community of attendees. Media Criteria

This application to attend MAGIC MARKET WEEK is intended for editorial media only. Ad sales, marketing, public relations, publishing and promotions personnel must use Non-Retail Registration. Employees of media outlets who do not work in an editorial capacity do not qualified for a press credential. Press credentials are reserved for working members of the fashion media who meet the MAGIC criteria.

Editors of in-house newsletters or personal web logs (blogs) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

Press credentials will not be granted to:

  • Publishers/associate publishers and any advertising personnel, including directors, managers and account executives. 
  • Media outlets and editorial personnel whose publication, website or journal does not cover or reflect the fashion market.
  • Anyone whose principal purpose for attending MAGIC is, in our judgment, for reasons other than generating news coverage of the event or its participants.
